Maine real estate stats stay strong
According to the Maine Association of REALTORS, stats for housing sales continue to trend upwards. This continues the strong standing that real estate business experienced in the spring and summer. In fact, in September 2020, the percentage of units sold was 22.78% higher than in September 2019 (an additional 425 units sold!). Additionally, the median sale price increased by 19.56% compared in September 2019 (an additional $44,750!).

Portland named one of the Top Five Best Cities To Live In!
We have always known that Portland is a gem of a place, but now our wonderful city is getting even more national attention! Location rating site, Liveability.com, ranked Portland, ME at #4 on it's Top 100 Places List! Portland's analysis was based on affordability, safety, economic stability, community, and accessibility. Other factors that played into Portland high rating were this year's job offerings, growth, and resilience.

Locations Real Estate Group participates in TrashDash 2020
On Sunday, September 20, Locations Real Estate Group was honored to participate in Keep America Beautiful's TrashDash 2020. The event was virtual in nature, asking participates to take part by cleaning up trash anywhere in their community. Our group, organized by Locations' agent Kate Hodgson, focused our efforts on Mill Creek Park and the surrounding area in South Portland. We collected six bags of trash and four bags of recyclables! GoGo Refill, a wonderful local organization dedicated to helping people reduce their use of single-use plastic, loaned us some litter grabbers to use.

Apple picking in Maine
It's officially fall! Here in Maine the days are getting shorter, the leaves are changing, and the air is a little crisper. Fall is a beautiful time of year in Maine and it is so good to take advantage of the lovely weather by getting outside and enjoying some seasonal activities. One of the best is apple picking and Maine has a number of fantastic pick-your-own orchards to choose from. Locations Real Estate Group signs up for TrashDash 2020!
Locations Real Estate Group is honored to take part in Keep America Beautiful's 2020 TrashDash on Sunday, September 20. The TrashDash is a plogging fun run. Plogging is the act of picking up litter when jogging or walking. Though the official 2nd Annual TrashDash will take place in Connecticut, Keep America Beautiful has opened up the event virtually to those who live elsewhere. The Locations Real Estate Group team plans on doing their plogging in the Mill Creek Park area in South Portland on September 20.

South Portland is one of the country's hottest zip codes in 2020
According to a new report from Realtor.com, South Portland is one of the hottest zip codes in 2020! Each year, Realtor.com analyzes over 16,000 zip codes to see how quickly homes are selling and how many views listings receive in each. In the top 10 zip codes, the east coast was overwhelmingly dominant, snagging seven spots and New England individually had a strong showing, too. South Portland came in at #5!

Moving surge due to COVID-19
Recent data released from the Pew Research Center has shown that 1 in 5 Americans have moved or know of someone who has moved due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Reasons for moving have included wanting to be closer to family, colleges closing, financial issues, the switch from working in an office to remote worker home, and finding homes that are more conducive in complying with stay-at-home guidelines and safety. For the past few months, the housing market has seen. greater number of buyers than available homes on the market. That seems definitely in line with the moving action that folks are seeing and experiencing during COVID-19.
